He began his musical journey as a drummer at the age of six when his grandparents (Bishop W.H. Solomon and Mother Solomon) purchased his first drum set and allowed him to play in church. At the age of thirteen, was when recalls playing on a profession level at his home church of Solomon Temple C.O.G.I.C. and many other local choirs/groups and national choirs throughout the area. He was surrounded by music in his home with his mother (Helen Stokes) playing piano/singing and his father (Thomas Stokes Jr.) playing lead guitar/choir director. His parents both created an excellent stable and structural home life. He was an academic product of the Savannah, Georgia school system where music was a great passion as he played the saxophone, trumpet, and drums.

Later in his life, at the age of 25 he began playing the bass guitar which promoted his musical experiences and talents even further. He made a decision to master the bass guitar and engage in training himself, after one year he was well on his way to a new career as a bassist on the music circuit.

There were and still is several factors and persons that have inspired him to pursue music. His love for music always moves him emotionally and allows him to openly express himself when he can’t find words.

In the year 1986-1989 he was a radio announcer with WIZA 24 hour gospel radio station. As a radio announcer, he was affiliated with the Gospel Music Workshop of America’s Announcer Guild, which enhanced his radio skills and launched him a seat as Program Director at the radio station. As a means of promoting gospel, in the year 1987, he founded a gospel ensemble “The Redeemed Delegation” which traveled and ministered for seven years that included two performances (1989 and 1991) on the Bobby Jones Gospel television show. Soon after the ensembles performances, they won the Savannah Georgia Peoples Choice Award for Best Choir Director, Best Male Vocalist, and Song of the Year.

In 2002, he co-produced (along with Greg Mitchell of Virginia as producer) his own solo project “A Touch of Flavor” with his own band (The Brothers of Judah) that was promoted throughout the United States.

Even with investing the commitment to his music, Thomas leads a very dedicated family life with his wife and children who supports his music endeavors 100%. He finds time to be an inspiration to musicians of all ages, conducting workshops and giving private lessons in his community. He has received numerous accolades such as the Key to the City, Proclamations and several Awards ranging from conducting city-wide workshops to participation in community events.

He has an endorsement for SWR bass guitar and amplifier.

While still doing numerous side gigs such as recording with Savannah Community Choir Finale, St. Paul CME and Perpetual Praise Chorale, Thomas is focusing on creating more and better music, networking, and spending time on his next personal project with his band.

With the years of bass guitar experience, persistence, and dedication, Thomas is sure to be even more of a sought after bassist and instrumental recording artist in the present and future.
